Developing a Love of Reading

It is essential that we are promoting reading for enjoyment in schools and ensuring that we are making every child a reader by the time they finish primary school. If this is an area you are looking to develop further and would like ideas to embed a reading for enjoyment pedagogy in your school, then this could be the course for you. With practical activities, whole school approaches and a wealth of quality, engaging texts shared, this exciting day will provide you with expert advice and guidance on how to further develop and improve your practice and hopefully provide a variety of diverse ways to really engage your children with their reading. Research based approaches are at the heart of the day, along with the expert help, support and guidance from the National Literacy Trust.

Vocabulary

If you are looking for ideas, activities and ways of developing vocabulary in your schools, then this is the course for you. From the theory of why explicit teaching of vocabulary is so vital to our children in our ever demanding world, to the practical approaches and whole school methods that can be implemented, the day will be packed with ideas.

We shall be exploring what types of vocabulary can be taught in reading, English lessons and also throughout the curriculum. If the vocabulary gap is an area you are trying to address, then the methodology shared during the day would definitely benefit you with developing a whole school pedagogy regarding vocabulary.
